The philosophy of planning a cheap vacation
Planning my oversea trip way way ahead is one of my travelling habits. Cheap airfares is the most impt factor b4 I made my decision. One of my happiest (cos I saved a lot in my air tix) trips was the one to Taipei last May. I managed to get the tix at S$271 incld taxes & svr charge. SQ, EVA and china airline cost more than $500 during the same period, where I got tis discounted price at Jetstar asia.
Question: how do u get good airfares?
If u wanna get good price, date of travel is impt. Long weekends with public holidays mostly dun give discounted fares. Asia destinations are the easiest to get cheap tix. I like to go to jetstarasia website to check out their latest promo. Now, they hv promo tix to several destinations for the period 10Sep-31Oct.
Another good website is airfares.com.sg as they usually give the latest air tix promo from various airlines. Do rmb that the prices shown do not include taxes & svr charge (can b misleading if u r 1st time surfing the page).
Tiger airways is good for those who like weekend getaways to hong kong, bangkok and phuket. Right now, they r having 40% discount for 2008 flights. I jus checked tat the tix to bkk on fri 11Jan 1815h, back on sun 13Jan 2010h costs S$162.
