My trip to London-Cambridge-Paris
Was on leave today.. took 2-3hrs resizing my pics, so tat I can put them up on web asap...
23 Sep Sunday @ Cambridge
Dawn n YH drove me down to Cambridge > thanks again =)
We were there at around 11am, but my registration for e conference only opens at 3pm.. as planned we walked to the city center, had spanish food for lunch n toured e little town, b4 they headed back to London.
Punting: a popular sport in Cambridge. A punt is a flat-bottomed boat which does not have a keel, and is propelled by means of a long pole. Some students from the colleges work as part-time to earn pocket money..
23-26 Sep @ Churchill college for my work conference..
No pic taken except for posters I saw at the conference.. weather suddenly went down at least 5 degC colder on Monday.. very very tough in the monring n evening..
27 Sep Thursday London-Paris
Flow on air france, tix costs 46 pounds. I was fortunate as I did my check-in over e internet while at Dawn's place.. If not, the waiting line at Heathrow was damn long.. Personally, Paris Charles de Gaulle looks so much nicer, more professional.. I got my luggage so much quicker than at Heathrow...
Booked a double room at Hotel Peletier Haussmann Opera over e internet, 100Euro/night.. it's quite exp, but I hv no regrets as it's damn convenient. I took an airport bus, 8.60 Euro to Opera Garnier, which is 10min walk (without luggage) from my hotel. I took e same bus back on the last day too
Saw tis ads while I was about to take my 1st metro ride.. I told myself I m going to watch tis when I m back to Sg! so tempting! >>
My 1st destination: Notre Dame at e island, sanwiched between right bank n left bank.
It's cloudy n windy tat day.. drizzled after 7pm.. Had a 2nd thought about taking e boat ride to Eiffel as it's damn cold lor.. e cathedral was crowded, so I din go in till my 2nd visit at night =) I took both day n night pics of some monument/place as they realli give me a diff "feel" of e place
s usual, very cold on tat day when I visited Eiffel tower, so I din go up to e mid-level.. scared I will freeze to death... =.=
Met a Shanghai gal, Helen while touring Eiffel. We decided to tour Paris together for e evening as she has signed on a land tour to Italy n Greece.. She's a prefectionist, as she makes sure e pic she took for me come out nicely.. =) but i din hv a pic with her... so forgetful >>
Saw tis very chio car at te Toyota showroom >>
e very famous Arc de Triomphe along at e entrance to Champs Elysees - e shopping street of Paris with many top branded shops such as Cartier, LV... I realli like tis pic as e evening background effect makes it even nicer. Wanted to go into e LV store, but it was closed 8pm.. I went to LV stores 4x during tis trip..
28 Sep Friday @ Versailles
Started my day with a 4hours day-tour at Versailles. Tour booked by sis. Toured e palace n apartment, which was e royal residence of a few King Louis of France. Was known as e unofficial capital city of France, Versailles is highly recommended by sis n my French colleage. I was quite unlucky as it rained e whole day... Here r some pics I took during my tour...
My next destination of e day: the Lourve
Went there twice as it stopped raining in the evening.. my 2nd trip down to e Lourve proved worthy as I managed to walk longer outside e museum =) Grande Pyramide is one of the five controversial buildings in Paris (I visited Eiffel Tower n Tour Montparness too). Tis place is popular esp if u hv watched the movie "Da Vinci Code" casted by Tom Hanks. Tis place is as good as wat u hv seen in movies or internet. Very very impressive n unforgetable.
29 Sep Saturday @ Musee d'Orsay n Montparness
Tis museum is highly recommended by Lonely planet. Lourve museum is also recommended but it's far too exp n too big.. Mona Lisa portriat is probably e only one I wish to see.. Hence, decided on Musee d'Orsay instead.. costs me 5.50 Euro..
Toured around for 2 hours (very surprised at myself for being able to tour tis long.. =p)
Din take many pics while touring e left bank of Paris, Montparness.. cos there were many shopping at tis side of Paris.. Hee*
30 Sep Sunday @ Montmartre
Notre Dame n Sacre-Coeur r 2 of e most popular cathedrals in Paris. Sacre-Coeur is situated at a hill-top of Montmartre, best known for e erotic theatres n Moulin Rouge. Realli find tis walking tour worth doing, n highly recommended for any1 who wish to tour Paris. Nice sceneries, food n streets n mus hv good walking shoes. The cathedral is at e top, need stamina for tat too.
Tink tat's all e pics I will put.. Will post e link to my web photo album once all my pics r uploaded. Paris is a very beautiful city, filled with their cultures n attractions. Feel free to ask me anything if u plan to visit Paris.
